Spill Absorption Vermiculite

Exfoliated vermiculite is a lightweight, mineral-based absorbent used for the containment and cleanup of many common liquid spills in commercial, industrial and workshop environments.

VX Resources Canada processes and supplies exfoliated vermiculite from our facility in Gananoque, Ontario, with commercial 4 cu. ft. bags available for spill-control and absorbent applications.

Why Vermiculite for Spill Control?

Expanded vermiculite has a lightweight, porous structure that allows liquid to be absorbed and retained within the material. Its low bulk density also means a relatively large volume of absorbent material can be supplied in each bag.

Unlike heavier mineral absorbents, vermiculite is lightweight and easier-to-handle before use and can be readily distributed over a spill area.

Choosing a Vermiculite Grade

Superfine Vermiculite is our preferred grade for spill absorption applications. Its finer particle profile provides excellent distribution across a spill surface and is particularly suited to applications where absorbency is the primary requirement.

Fine Vermiculite is well suited to spill-control applications, offering a smaller particle profile and provide good distribution across a spill surface striking a balance between absorbency, coverage and ease of handling.

Medium Vermiculite is a versatile general-purpose option where a larger particle profile is preferred.

The appropriate grade can depend on the liquid, application and handling requirements.
